Antique Dutch Bible Statenvertaling, Large Folio, Early 18th Century, The Hague: Item Description: Offered for sale is a remarkable and historically important Dutch Statenbijbel (States Bible), printed in The Hague ( 's Gravenhage ) in the early 18th century by the widow and heirs of Hillebrandt Jacobsz van Wouw , official printers to the Staten Generael (States-General) of the Netherlands. This is a large folio-format edition of the Statenvertaling , the official Dutch Reformed Bible translation , first commissioned by the Synod of Dordrecht (1618–1619) and authorized for use throughout the Reformed Church in the Netherlands. This edition follows the standard 17th-century text and was printed for ecclesiastical or ceremonial use. Dimensions: Weight - 7.7KG Height - 44.5cm Width - 30.5cm Thickness - 13.5cm Damage (Please see above photos for reference): 1 brass clasp is missing (There should be two) Some pages are stuck together from a mixture of age and localised water damage (Please see above photos) There is foxing throughout the book (The text is still legible) The illustrations have been cut out at various points The maps have been separated at some point and the edges of the page, that the maps are on, have damage along the edges The cover is cracked with age The spine has to large points of damage (This is where I suspect the Bible was attached to a stand or pulpit) Some pages have minor tears and bent corners
