Description

An original autograph letter Signed, from Lady Frieda Harris to Aleister Crowley. With a handwritten address "Castle Hotel, Brecon". Dated November 7th [194?, Year not given]. Handwritten in ink, both sides of a 8-1/4 x 5 inch paper. Begins with "My dearest Aleister, Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law" and ends with "Love is the law. love under will, Yours ever Frieda Harris". The letter is approx. 35 lines long. The letter is printed on paper with Frieda Harris' blue dove in pyramid design at the top of the page. Frieda Harris writes warmly to Crowley, thanking him for a pleasant recent meeting and expressing appreciation for the time they spent together. She mentions she should have written sooner but has been exhausted and preoccupied while in London. She notes spending time with Walter Smart, though she found the conversation tedious and fell asleep while he spoke. Back in Brecon, she describes the lovely air but confesses to feeling lonely as the only occupant of a large hotel—Percy, apparently her husband, has gone to Hastings. She updates Crowley that she’ll return on the 30th, but won't be able to see him immediately, needing first to settle Percy and his routines. She promises to phone Crowley and to return a book she borrowed in a few days. While enjoying the book, she finds its language overly obscure. She mentions seeing Symonds, who was vague and unhelpful. Harris closes the letter noting the chaotic Christmas atmosphere in London. A few creases from being folded, minor discoloration, else in fine condition. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and don't forget to check out my other listings.

  2. The parcel was packaged and wrapped with significant care, I didn’t recognize it was my package at first due to its size…I would’ve gladly paid shipping fees for this kind of extensive packaging. Nothing was damaged during transit and it arrived on time, excellent work! The item itself is also exactly as described by the seller, no more no less. I am well satisfied with this purchase. 3. Fantastic seller. Contacted me almost immediately with shipping details and an explanation about a potential delay due to the Juneteeth holiday. Book was wrapped in a ridiculous amount of bubble wrap so it would arrive safely. So awesome to have a book from the early 1800s on free trade. This was absolutely a great value and would buy from again! I have zero complaints.
