Das Leatherman L-500 Frame Lock ist ein sehr seltenes Klappmesser , das Ende der 1980er Jahre exklusiv für den japanischen Markt hergestellt wurde. Es verfügt über einen stabilen Frame-Lock-Mechanismus und ein minimalistisches, zugleich robustes Design – charakteristisch für die frühen Messerexperimente von Leatherman, bevor das Unternehmen vor allem durch seine Multitools bekannt wurde. Aufgrund der begrenzten Auflage und der Marktexklusivität gilt das L-500 heute als ein äußerst seltenes und begehrtes Sammlerstück . Auf dem letzten Foto ist ein Auszug aus dem japanischen Knife Magazine Nr. 8 vom Februar 1988 mit einer Werbung für dieses Messer zu sehen.
